Odds are you're already using social media to engage your followers and attract new business. We're sharing a few tips for you to consider as you navigate the constantly changing social media marketing channel.
Use images. Good quality images help get your reader's attention. Make use of those photos from your latest event, or create a quick graphic for an upcoming fundraiser and post.
Use text. Any time you post an image, include accompanying text that describes the purpose or origin of the image. Keep it short. Check your spelling.
Use links. If you are asking your readers to do something - register for an event, for example - give them a link to the page where the action takes place. Make it easy for your audience to follow through on your call to action.
Don't be afraid to advertise. Social media advertising is super economical and with a little practice - highly targeted. Social media ads allow you to define your audience based on a variety of criteria. Geography, age, gender, likes and interests, date ranges or specific days...there are lots of possibilities that will help you reach those who are most likely to take advantage of your services. For just a few dollars and a few minutes of set-up time you can have an ad in place and ready to post.
Respond to comments and messages. Nothing says "I don't care" quite like an ignored message on social media. If one of your followers has taken the time to send you a message or comment on your post, acknowledge their efforts with a response. Answer their questions in a timely and thoughtful manner. Remember - it's SOCIAL media. Engage!
Don't engage in negative banter. Yes, you should always respond to messages and posts - even the negative ones. However, do not engage in negative banter on social media. Always be professional in your communications and know when to step away from someone who only wants to put you in defensive mode. You will lose followers if they see you behaving badly.
